Living rooms were connected to dining rooms, entrances were framed with either a cased opening or detailed columns and bookcases. The living room usually housed the fireplace which was likely centered in the room and flanked by two high windows and built-in book cases.

Smaller bungalows often entered directly into the living room from the front porch. However if the home were a larger one, the bungalow would possibly have a more distinct entry. Story and one half bungalows used the front entry to begin the stair to the second floor. Stairs to the second floor would terminate at an up stairs hallway.
